image-aussie.com features a range of amateur photographs and videos, casually shot in Australia but generally limited to places within the state of Western Australia (South West region), rather than reflecting what wider Australia has to offer.

The original intention was to work towards providing arrays of commercial images for digital file downloads and postage delivered hardcopy prints, either individually and/or as categories. This would have helped to provide funding for better camera equipment and allow travel trips to capture the beauty of more places around Australia.

Unfortunately, I experienced significant chronic health problems which limited functional capacity, and I also lacked the professional equipment required for the ever increasing quality that would be expected from an e-commerce website.

I still believe that I, and others who contributed, have captured some good snapshots worth archiving and sharing with the rest of the world for free of charge. So I decided to keep this domain as a hobby, but still with the remote possibility of eventually putting together packages of premium shots that would be worthwhile for me to sell and for people to purchase.

The quality and cost-effectiveness of photography and printing technologies have much improved since the early-2000s, but the commercialization of this website remains improbable in the foreseeable future. The internet has given me much, so I feel inclined to give a little something in return. It is taking me much longer than anticipated to complete this project, but I hope that people will find some value from this collection when it is eventually completed.

Most of the photos taken over the years have been spontaneous, opportunistic, or done with indirect assistance. I am certainly no adventurer travelling around the country. Photos of far away places were all captured by other people I know.

I have been a (casual) amateur electronics hobbyist on and off for decades, with a somewhat recent focus on high-voltage electrical phenomena, so I will upload some selected media and technical information associated with various projects over the long-term. Other high-voltage enthusiasts have already done what I have done plus a lot more, but since I am also an amateur trigger-happy photographer, perhaps I have taken more captures than most who have done similar projects.

The general theme for this website is a quote attributed to Albert Einstein:
"Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better."
It is used as a loose reference to viewing images of nature and is not intended to be too literal.
It also reflects gaining inspiration from being outdoors or spending time in nature to reflect upon life.

The homepage collage was constructed from image-aussie.com images, arranged in rows of categories in order as they appear on this website as individual sections e.g. beaches, skies, flowers, plants, scapes, other, electricity. A satellite image of Australia has also been laid over the top, with a silhouette of Australia.

The 6 star constellation found in the banner title is based on the "Southern Cross" seen in Australian skies and on the "Commonwealth Star" found on the Australian flag.
